OTC Hosts Successful Summer Blood Drive

Posted on Sep 02, 2025 at 8:57 AM

The Student Leadership Council (SLC) at Ogeechee Technical College (OTC) hosted a blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross of Southeast and Coastal Georgia on August 26, in the Oak Room of the Jack Hill Building.

The Red Cross team collected 26 units of blood during the event, successfully exceeding the drive’s goal. With each unit having the potential to save up to three lives, this effort could positively impact as many as 78 patients in need.

Student volunteers from several OTC clubs helped support the drive, including NTHS, Cybersecurity,  Radiologic Technology, SCNAVTA, and SLC.
To date, OTC has hosted 59 drives, collected 1,858 units of blood, and registered 2,150 total donors, averaging 31 units per drive.

"Thanks to the dedication of our students, faculty, and staff, we met our blood drive goal. It’s encouraging to see how the college’s commitment to service can impact our community,” said Beckie Snyder, Administrative Assistant for VPSA.

Ogeechee on the Go is the name of Ogeechee Technical College’s community service initiative. OTC students and employees routinely participate in projects designed to support worthwhile causes within the community.
