Various models are available to provide reading, writing, and math instruction to include face-to-face, online, virtual, and hybrid instruction. Adult learners are now able to choose how they want to earn their credentials, either through completing the General Education Development (GED) test or the HiSet (high school equivalency - HSE) testing option.

  • Adult Basic Education provides instruction for reading readiness, basic mathematics skills, and an introduction to writing and basic grammar, provides instruction in reading comprehension, reading in the content areas, mathematics, and language arts.
  • Adult Secondary Education provides instruction in reading, science, social studies, grammar and writing skills, and mathematics. This level will develop the skills necessary for the completion of the GED examination.
  • Instruction is offered to individuals who do not need their GED but need to increase their skills in a particular subject area, ex: fractions, grammar, writing, etc. free of charge
  • English as a Second Language (ESL) provides instruction for students who want to learn to speak English or want to develop a deeper understanding of the English language. To be eligible for ESL classes, students must have a valid picture ID and must be a citizen of the US, a legal permanent resident 18 years or older, a qualified alien, or be lawfully present in the United States. The Adult Education Program will provide limited ESL instruction to eligible students. Students will be referred to other ESL resources in the community.
